TEXT SCORES FOR GETTING TO KNOW THE INVERTEBRATES




Text scores are instructions to follow, and if you wish, to perform. In these particular text scores, you are prompted to ‘auralize’ - a usage of this term Oliveros coined to mean “mentally sound” or “hear in your mind.” It can simply mean to think about what something might sound like. Text scores are meant for everyone and anyone - no experience needed.                                                            

Inspired by composer Pauline Oliveros’ text score practice, I have been writing text scores for getting to know the invertebrates.
